          Camp

I wait there. Still. Nerves invade my veins, ready to stop me as I think differently. Fear haunts me while the starting line stands in front of me.Here I go.

Feet stomping on mud my heals struggle to move along the creek. The journey beyond me sends shivers down my spine. My legs quiver, urging to past the finish line

Im at the front. Happiness  lifts my cheeks as encouragement pushes me forward. The finish line waves to me in the distance… Instantly people past me stealing my podium placing

Choices of Life Production

This week, Kahikatea team presented our production.

In the production, I auditioned for a main part, and I ended up as a Voice of Reason. My costume was so hilarious. I had a chicken suit with a rainbow over my head.

One thing I learnt in the production is that it does actually take a little bit of time to learn 21 lines. It did feel pretty nerve racking in the first show because I really didn’t want to mess up my lines although I did (only a little bit.)

In the production I did enjoy end of it because a breeze of relief dawdled across my mind. But over all, I did have lots of fun.

Gym fest

                              Gymfest

Yesterday at gym-fest, their were at least 10 schools that I was competing against. The thing that I liked the most was that I found that I came second overall, out of the
year 5-6 of course. One thing that I learned is the competition judges are extremely strict about how you point your toes, look up etc.

Picture this, dawdling through the park on a summer's day, when a gargantuan puff of smoke sweeps past your cheeks like a deadly broom. Dropping on the ground, instantly your organs begin to slow. I bet you're wondering how all of this happened. A cigarette. Cigarettes can cause many diseases such as lung disease and heart disease, it's true!

According to Sally Mole, 84% of smokers end up with smoking linked diseases like throat diseases, mouth diseases, bladder problems and even pregnancy problems. You will be surprised to know that if smokers start at 20,96% of them risk throwing away 10 YEARS of their life.

Did you know that 79.6% of smokers start this disgusting habit between 16 and 20 years of age. That surprises me. 766,500 children are under the influence to smoke, therefore 66,000 children die each year. But are the cigarette prices doing anything?

Recent studies say that their is 20% decrease in smoking consumption since they boosted the prices up to $30 dollars two years ago, that means they are more likely to quit. New Zealand might even be smoke-free by 2025.

We need to be doing more to prevent smoking in the years to come, because smoking creates deadly diseases, it influences children to start and the cost of smokes are insane. So are you going to take the last smoke in the packet.

organ dissecting

                Organ Dissecting  by Flynn

Flopping onto the tray, the heart fears the eyes ogling over it. Blood bubbles through my veins as excitement takes over and steals my sole. My hands slowly slide toward the heart.

My cheeks widen as the tip of the scalpel shreds through the meat. Digging deeper, blood oozes across the heart eventually reaching my gloves. My fingers scan the heart as they slowly proceed towards it.

Sliding through the holes, I instantly feel a soft massage on the tips of my fingers.

Sliding Down Sandy Stuff (Flynn)

Sliding down sandy stuff by Flynn
Quivering, my legs proceed up the hill. Dawdling up the sand, my feet become closer to the tip. Hesitating I slowly slide towards the edge of the bank.

Sliding down the sand, my shriek descends down the river below me. Wobbling side to side, my legs seized as I slap the bottom. Trudging up the hill again, my second attempt falls into place.

Smashing the water with my face, my heart rapidly beats.  I struggle to get back up. Panicking, my blood bubbles through my veins as my breath shortens. Breaking the surface my head head fires out of the water consuming air. The shambolic thought of dying fades away.

mountain bike

       Squidgy feet
by Flynn

The tension in my veins build up like a chemical reaction. One step in front of the other my nerves take the better of me. My legs begin to quiver.

My hands grip on to the muddied grass. My face murmurs as as my feet dip into the water. The abhorrent thought of squidgy feet became true.

The river laughed at me as the sad look under my eyes becomes stronger. I slowly scuttle across the rocks as my shoes start caving in with liquid. My saturated shoes groaned like a lonely baby in the night.
